Dacres Wood – an update

Due to the recent global pandemic of COVID-19, activities on Dacres Wood has stopped. This has meant that we have not been able to hold Friends Group meetings or run our regular Open Days. As Government advice changes we have been able to start back slowly and in a phased manner.

We are reliant on volunteers for the open days and for helping run the Friends Group meetings and are very grateful for all they do. Until we are able to open the site safely and in a way that everyone is comfortable with, this site will remain closed.

Unfortunately the site has suffered a lot more with trespassing over the last few months, and people have been lighting fires and leaving a lot of litter. This is a shame because it can badly affect this nature reserve and cause damage to wildlife. It is also disheartening for the volunteers who help manage this site to see it damaged in this way.

If you would like to be involved in the group, please email us.

    1. Hi Michael,

I am sorry to hear that you are disappointed about the site being closed. The site was closed all during lock down and when we were able to open it again on a limited basis, the volunteers did not feel that they could do this. As we a reliant on volunteers to open this site, we need to make sure they are ready and prepared to before we open it up.

If you would like to be part of the Friends Group and help open the site in future, please email dacreswood@gmail.com and we can add you to the mailing list.

      Best wishes,

      Jess
