  1. Hello Dacres Wood Nature Reserve,
My name is Bruno Roubicek and I have been running events and community engagement activity at Albion Millennium Green in Forest Hill since 2008. In 2013 I ran the Little Ecological Arts Festival, (LEAF) in Albion Millennium Green. You can see a short video showing some of the events there if you use this link: https://vimeo.com/brunoroubicek/little-ecological-arts-festival
I would like to organise a second LEAF festival with the help of the Friends of Albion Millennium Green, (AMG), but this time we would like it to be in AMG, Dacres Wood and possibly Mayow Park. The dates would be 1-4 May 2020. The sites are linked by the railway and canal and a common geo-socio-political history. If you think this might work for you, I will be applying for funding to include at least two events over the 4 days in Dacres Wood: “Nest” by Nathalie Hauwelle and “Labyrinth” by Maria Strutz. Both events leave a lasting legacy on the site and Labyrinth in particular has remained a popular installation on AMG six years after it was completed. It changes and develops according to the seasons, plant growth and human usage. You can see short videos of these events here: https://vimeo.com/66627986 (Labyrinth) and https://vimeo.com/66510775 (Nest). I hope you feel able to be a part of this event in 2020. The events will be offered free of charge and our target audience will be local residents of all ages that do not have access to a garden of their own. All funding will be handled by Friends of Albion Millennium Green but we would need a representative of Dacres Wood to be present for the 4 days (2pm-8pm) and possibly access to the site in the days leading up to the festival. Do let me know if you have any questions. I would like to have a short tour of the site to assess the possibilities for inclusion in LEAF 2020. With very best wishes, Bruno

    1. Hi Bruno,

This is Jess, I help manage this site and so I’ll contact you about it via email. Alternatively, I think you probably still have mine, so feel free to drop me a line.

      Best wishes,

      Jess

    1. Hi Jonathan,

Thank you for your message and interest in Dacres Wood. The site is open once a month between April-October and so the site will not be open now again until next year. This will of course be dependent on adhering to any Government guidelines which might be in place then. The site is open by the Friends Group and so if this is something you would like to be involved in, please email dacreswood@gmail.com

      Best wishes,

      Jess

  2. Hello

I am interested in doing some volunteering in the nature reserve, is there anything I can help you out with over the next few weeks?

I am studying Horticulture and Permaculture and would like to spend some time with community organisations such as yourselves

    Thanks a million

    1. Dear Brendan,

Thank for your interest in volunteering. I have sent you an email about this.

      Best wishes,

      Jess
