  1. Hi,
    thank you for the history of the site – very interesting.
    I am curious about this:
    “In 1990 the southern part of the canal was cleared exposing the original canal walls. To create a suitable wildlife habitat the walls were lined with clay.”

    This suggests that the walls were made of something other than clay. I would have thought all the original canal walls were made of clay apart from near bridges, wharves and locks. And none of those structures are documented as being built here. Any ideas?

  2. My parents together with my sister and I lived in 3 Dorcas Close, way back in 1949 we then migrated to Australia
    are you able to tell me if Dacres Close is still there or does it come under Dacres Road now.
    My sisters and I are coming to the UK next year and hope to visit the area
